Bonnie Patrick, L.C.S.W.

Welcome to my Practice! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a practicing psychotherapist for 27 years. I aspire to provide a safe place for clients to process their stories. Making my practice more than “talk therapy” is important to me. I believe in an integrative process for therapy, which allows for emotional and cognitive healing. I incorporate Somatic Therapy, including restorative mindfulness, guided imagery/meditations, and hypnotherapy. By becoming more mindful of our stories or inner narrative, I find that we can become more balanced and emotionally open in our lives. This type of therapy is based in Native American teachings and is being explored today in neuroscience and psychology.

I am an ongoing student of Internal Family Systems theory. This model of therapy is based on part/self theory. The therapy is designed to help people identify internal parts, and to do more than just cope with the resulting extreme emotions and beliefs. The goal is to transform and to heal.

Group Therapy:

Adult Survivors of Childhood Trauma: The focus of the group is to identify and process how trauma has impacted intimate relationships, including relationship with self. Some emotional issues that will be emphasized are shame, self-esteem, and intimacy in relationships. Narrative therapy will be a tool used as a way of telling stories, and maybe rewriting some of the habitual ones that cause emotional pain. Practicing relaxation/meditation/guided imagery that is intended to help heal trauma is a part of each group session. This group is intentionally kept small and will run when I have 4 participants. The cost is $50 per group session and we will meet for six consecutive weeks. Each session lasts for 90 minutes.

Pet Loss and Bereavement Group:

This group focuses on the unique aspects of pet loss. Pet loss may result in complicated grief. This is a loss that may be experienced as isolating because our society as a whole may not recognize the important role that pets often play in our lives. Many suffer in silence, fearing they will be ridiculed, and in reality, many are misunderstood. This group addresses the stages of grief and how they apply to animal loss. Members are encouraged to process emotions safely and to create a memorial for their beloved pet. The group will run when I have 4 participants. The cost is $50 per group session and each session runs for 90 minutes. If a group is not available at the time of the request, I will offer an individual session based on sliding scale.
